Ace of Cups

Today’s card is the Ace of Cups. I can think of no better card to pop out than this one today.
.
I am on the magical isle of Anglesey or Ynys Mon, in North Wales. Some argue that this in fact, Avalon from Arthurian lore, but it is mostly known as the last known civilization of the Druids. This is also a major energy area with so many ley lines I have the energy of a 5 yr old.
.
Moving on from the historical value, let’s look at the Ace of Cups and it’s significance.
.
Sticking with the above Arthurian reference, the cup can be considered the holy grail. The womb, the seed of thought. I don’t believe there was ever a physical holy grail. I believe it to have been an idea.
.
Water flows into a cup and out of a cup. Consider water our emotions and the cup, us. If we allow our emotions to just flow through us without setting up mental dams, a calm comes over us. Our thoughts are clear, our actions aren’t based on emotions, but on insight. .
I do this a lot (the erratic emotions). There is something within me that I try to harness, or control even though I know and have all of the tools to cope with such things. It gets frustrating. It’s a daily reminder to practice, practice, practice.
.
It would be awesome to be all zen and shit through any rough patch but the truth of the matter is, until we allow things to flow through our lives we will battle these mental demons.
.
So today do this with me. Every time your mind tries to control a thought, breathe deep and say ‘Allow’ as you breathe out. Allow these emotions to flow through you. Do your best not to attach to an outcome. Allow yourself to let go of all thoughts of control or what these need to look like.
.
As Bruce Lee once said; ‘Be water my friend.’

The Emperor

Today’s card is The Emperor. He is the ruler of his domain.
.
If you pull this card today it is telling you to rely and trust your inner strength. Be fair but stern with those around you. The best rulers are the ones that are loved by their kingdom, not feared.
.
Years ago while going through Summit Education in South Florida, I went down the rabbit hole, so to speak. When we learn more about ourselves it’s almost impossible to be ignorant of your actions or others around you. With every step I take, with every fall I make, that seed is still there. .
When you are living your truth you are constantly growing and changing. It makes it difficult for those around you because they feel like they are encountering a new person. It’s true. They are. I am no more the same as I was last week as I was when I was 10. The growing and learning never stops. That is not to say that I haven’t been stuck for periods of time, I most definitely have. So when these people that got to know you in your period of stagnation, of course they are going to freak out when your actions are different than what they are used to. .
This is where the Emperor steps in. The strength of this Emperor is reminding you that when these people around you who can’t understand you anymore: You changing does not equate you being wrong. Don’t fall into that trap. You are not wrong. .
At the end of the day you are going to have to face yourself in the mirror. Are you going to see someone who has compromised themselves for others? Or are you going to see someone who grows with and amongst others?
.
Live your truth with compassion and understanding and your life will forever be blessed.

The Six of Swords

Today’s card is the Six of Swords. It’s about moving forward and completely letting go of the past. Of course, this comes with growing pains. I will be the first person to tell you to let go of your past, but I will also be the first person to tell you that it takes a little time. We have to go through the stages of grief before we can truly let go. We are going to feel emotions as they surface and we need to truly ‘feel’ them. You’re going to be angry, sad, depressed, happy, despondent… you need to feel these things because if you just hide them away in a closet they are bound to resurface at some other point in our lives.
.
I am not over here in England to avoid the pains of a past relationship. I am here to write music, reflect, and go through these feelings. I recommend anybody to get away and change your environment to do exactly this. Eventually it will be old news.
.
One other thing that we have to do is to look at the parts of our past where we have grown. Acknowledge them. Honor yourself and those that were part of that journey because everything happens for a reason. Everything. Seriously… everything.
.
This morning there was an Admiral Butterfly on the windowsill. In certain cultures it signifies transformation and resurrection. A perfect reminder for today.
.
Today, honor your transformation and send a blessing to those that can’t or aren’t ready for your transformation. Do your best to be an example to them. Don’t sugarcoat how you are feeling. Let it out and let it go.

Strength

Today’s card is Strength. Notice that the card has a Lion and a Woman. She tames the savage beast, she knows how to calm it down or fire it up if she wants to.
.
Both the woman and the Beast are ourselves. Duality. When we can harness these two we have strength because there is no fear. Now, when I say harness I am also meaning accepting these aspects of ourselves. Strength is the ability to harness all of these forces to tackle whatever obstacle might fall in your path.
.
Are you afraid of speaking your truth because you are worried about what people will think of you? Are you physically afraid of being hurt because you’ve been abused in the past? There are so many things that we seem to be afraid of where we escape into our own little shells. .
Today, I want you to look at what you are afraid of. I want you to see where the strength lies within yourself to conquer these fears. Relying on someone else is not an option.

Wheel of Fortune

Today’s card is the wheel of fortune.
.
I’ve mentioned before that there is no such thing as luck. One of my mentors, Michael Bernard Beckwith, or as we referred to him at Agape; ‘The Rev’, called ‘luck’ Living Under Cosmic Knowledge. When we are an open vessel we are allowing the collective conscious to come in.
.
I can hear you now, “Come On Dave, gimme a break.”
.
“One break coming up!” And it’s a duzy. .
In one of my writing meditations this came to me. Imagine if you will, somebody up there in the ether, we will call this person your higher self, playing a video game. With their control pad (think XBox Control) they are guiding you through your journey. But when you are all gunked up, in your head your higher self is struggling with the control. It can’t guide you because the WiFi is at one bar. But when you are going with the flow l, you are an open vessel, your higher self has 5 bars on the WiFi and can easily guide you.
.
Whew. So… the wheel of fortune is telling us to keep our system open. Clear your chakras and ‘allow’ this so called good fortune to enter.

The Star

Today’s card is The Star.
.
This card is telling us that we can create anything we want or need. .
Recently I was talking to a friend about ‘Allowing’. All too often we try to control our environment instead of allowing things to unfold. Believe me, it is a test. As I sit over here in England writing I’ve mentioned that I have to frequently walk away from it all to allow the lyrics to flow through me. This also goes for any other aspect of our lives. We try to capture that bird in a cage to possess it for our own. We do this because we feel that if it leaves then we will be alone. Nobody wants to be alone. We look to that bird as our inspiration when the truth is that everything around us is our inspiration, and even going deeper… we are the common denominator, always. We are our own inspiration.
.
When we finally understand that ‘the buck stops here’ then we understand that we are creators. We hold the key. I wrote a song on the Karma Machine album with Kill Ritual called The Key. Go listen to the words. .
When you finally allow yourself to be who you truly are, you are opening yourself up to spirit and allowing spirit to guide you to your best and highest good.

The Princess of Swords

Today’s card is the Princess of Swords.
.
Creation through Destruction.
.
If you take a look at the card you will see that she carries a sword. In the traditional deck she is thrusting the sword into the ground creating a Vesica Pisces. The V.P. is Sacred Geometry. It is the Womb of the Universe and is literally in every creation. It is the first to introduce duality.
.
In the statement above I mention Creation through Destruction. Before we can manifest and create our new reality we have to first destroy the old. Any focus on old thought patterns or beliefs bring them right back center. That is why you notice people complaining never seem to grow or change. They are literally ‘stuck in the past’.
.
Here is an example for you. When I was in the Marines I used to smoke cigarettes. A disgusting habit that I eventually purged from my life. I have never nor will I ever refer to myself as a former smoker, or recovering smoker. I took the road of completely wiping that away by saying ‘I don’t smoke’ when asked, otherwise you will never ever hear me mention anything about it. Some would call this ignoring your past. No. It’s reshaping your past to bring forth a more positive future. That is why you will also never hear me jump on the ‘Never Forget’ band wagons. I’m not being unsympathetic to injustices of the past, what I am doing is creating a positive paradigm for the future. Bottom line…
.
We can’t change our past, but we can change our future.
.
Today, when you get a free moment, take out a pen and paper. Start writing down things of your past that aren’t serving you. Read them out loud and say, “I thank you for your lessons to help me change my future. I am ready to move forward. I release you now and forever.” Now burn that piece of paper and allow those judgements of your past to disappear.
